University B.T. & Evening College was established on 25 August 1968 with the blessings of HH Maharaja Jagaddipendra Narayan and Maharani Georgina Narayan, the last royal couple of the Cooch Behar princely state. Presently the institution is the only constituent college in North Bengal, and the only college with a B. Ed. section. The college was the second in Cooch Behar district to get accredited by NAAC in 2006 with “B” grade while the B.Ed. section remains accredited by NCTE. Presently, after all the colleges of the district came under the umbrella of Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University, this institution remains the only direct connection for Cooch Behar students to the better-ranked and UGC-accredited North Bengal University.
