Conceived as a space where melody meets youthful enthusiasm, the Music Club of University B.T. and Evening College invites students to explore the expressive power of music and to cultivate harmony in both voice and mind.
The club tries to promote the rich and diverse traditions of Indian music, encouraging students to engage with classical, semi-classical, and light musical forms that represent the country’s vibrant cultural heritage. At the same time, it pays special attention to the local folk traditions of Bhawaiya and Bhatiali, whose melodies carry the echoes of pastoral life and the flowing rhythms of the rivers of Bengal. By nurturing these traditions, the club seeks to keep alive the musical heritage that is deeply rooted in the cultural landscape of the region.
Initially, the club had been operating within the B.Ed. section of the college as a part of both curriculum and club activity. From the academic session 2025–26, however, its scope has been expanded to include the students of the undergraduate section as well, thereby opening a wider platform for musical participation and creative engagement across the institution.
Through regular rehearsals, musical gatherings, and performances at various college programmes, the Music Club inspires students to refine their sense of rhythm, melody, and expression, and adds a lyrical charm to the cultural life of the college.
