About Club:

From the Academic session of 2013-14, the Kanyashree Scheme, which had been launched on the International Women's Day of the year 2013 by the Government of West Bengal to promote girls’ education, prevent early marriage, and empower young women to pursue higher education and self-reliance, has been actively implemented by University B.T. & Evening College for the benefit of its girl students.

Over the years, the college has consistently facilitated the enrolment and successful disbursement of Kanyashree benefits to a significant number of students. On an average, around 300 girl students of the college receive the Kanyashree scholarship every year, which greatly assists them in continuing their studies and achieving financial independence. In the current academic year, 73 students have received the benefit under the scheme.

To further strengthen the spirit of empowerment and collective identity among the beneficiaries, the college constituted the Nivedita Club on 21 February 2018. The club, formed by the Kanyashree awardees of the institution, symbolically reflects the ideals of women’s education, dignity, and social awareness inspired by the life and work of Sister Nivedita. While the primary activity of the club has been the facilitation and monitoring of Kanyashree benefits among eligible students, it also serves as a platform that recognises the aspirations of young women within the academic community.

The sincere efforts of the institution in implementing the scheme have been duly recognised by the district administration. The college received the 1st Prize in Cooch Behar District in 2017–2018, and later secured the 3rd Prize in 2020–2021 and 3rd Prize again in 2022–2023. These awards were conferred by the District Magistrate of Cooch Behar, acknowledging the college’s commitment to ensuring effective implementation of the Kanyashree Scheme.

In 2024, the Nivedita Club took the initiative to install a sanitary pad vending machine in the Girls' Common Room of the college. In association with the Women Cell of the college, the club has also been organising karate coaching classes for the girls of the college to promote self-defence and confidence. Through such initiatives, the club continues to work towards the welfare, safety, and empowerment of female students.
